Russian  -  Vladmir Nabokov  describes it better than anyone: “In its deepest and most painful sense, it is a feeling of great spiritual anguish, often without a specific cause. In the least morbid aspect it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing for nothing to long for, a sick longing, a vague restlessness, mental agony, cravings. In some cases it could be the desire for something or someone in particular, nostalgia, a love sorrow. At its lowest level, it boils down to boredom, boredom. "
